Vama Veche a small village situated a few miles south of 2 Mai; it has become in recent summer seasons a much sought place because of the nonconformist atmosphere and the reduced prices for accommodation and meals. Few businessmen who had the courage to invest here had the pleasant surprise to find that last summer seasons have brought them large unexpected gains; an unexpected high number of tourists have arrived in Vama Veche, making this village one of the most popular holiday destination.
Accommodation is provided in residents' homes and a lot of comfortable villas built lately.
Vama Veche, located 7 km from the May 2, and 12 km from Mangalia is a border locality; it is an important border crossing to Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece and other destinations in East and Asia. Vama Veche can be reached by car from Mangalia, which is the terminus railway station, with or by car on the E 87national road. The distance is about 12km.
Beach
Vama Veche has a very good beach, with width that exceeds 200m. There is here a visual landmark that gives an original note to the horizon represented by an old wreck, situated a few hundred meters from the shore. Please note that for young children the Vama Veche beach is not recommended because the water level increases rapidly near the shore; also the Vama Veche traditional tourists who practice topless and nudism are not the best model for young children.
