Mangalia is the largest permanent watering and climate resorts at the Black Sea, city as old as Constanta (over 2000 years of historical attestation); it has a great climate, similar to the Mediterranean climate, with the highest average annual temperature of the country. The balneary treatment can be practiced all year round, the marine factors being combined with the existence of mineral discovered springs and used here in Mangalia from Roman times. At Mangalia Hotel and the Spa Sanatorium there can be performed all types of recovery treatment, against various diseases and aging of the body. Mangalia is the second city of the Romanian seaside; it is situated 45 km south of Constanta and 14 km from the border with Bulgaria. In the north of the city are located the southern seaside resorts (Saturn, Venus, Cap Aurora, Neptun, Olimp) and in the south of the city, at 7 km, there are Limanu, 2 Mai and Vama Veche. Usually Mangalia is the terminus station for all these seaside resorts.

Among the most important points of touristic interest we can mention one of the oldest mosques in Romania (1590); tourists can also visit the Archaeological Museum which houses several unique exhibits in the country, found in the area, collection of tubes and curiosities “Mercurius” si ruins of Calatis fortress. For those who haven’t been in recent years in Mangalia, we should remember that the image of the resort has changed much in the right direction, Mangalia becoming an attractive holiday destination for tourists due to the following advantages: it is a clean and attractive town; tourism services have reasonable rates; possibilities of private accommodation at convenient rates; the proximity of other resorts in the southern coastline (between Mangalia and Neptun – Olimp, on a distance of 7km, there are located the other resorts: Saturn, Venus, Jupiter - Cap Aurora, Neptun and  Olimp; in the south of the city there are located 2 Mai resort at 5km and Vama Veche  at 10km); famous summer events such as Mangalia Days and Navy Day.

Mangalia has a beach with a circular form, stretching between the north pier of the commercial port of Mangalia and Saturn beach, with which it is communicating through a small portion, in the north side of the city. In the central area, the beach is about 120 m wide and it is enclosed by a high cliff used as a promenade in the warm evenings of summer. Access to the beach is usually on the stairs that descend on the beach right from downtown.

In the city of Mangalia there are some old hotels and there are many possibilities of accommodation in private apartments, in the few cottages and homes in various districts of the city. Just like in the other seaside resorts, in Mangalia there are no new hotels, but some of the existing ones have been renovated and classified at 4 stars, such as President Hotel and Corsa Hotel.

Rented properties: In the districts of Mangalia city there are a lot of locals who rent rooms during the summer season, with a tradition of many years in this business (they can provide accommodation in very good conditions at affordable rates). There are a variety of acceptable houses and rooms have different comforts; also, depending on the position towards the beach, the rates for accommodation services are different. The best choice for large families or two couples of friends is the accommodation in an apartment with two or three rooms, furnished with every comfort, including fully equipped kitchen. In this way the accommodation rates and the daily meals costs are very low. There are a lot of apartments for rent in Mangalia, with varying rates, depending first on the location and then on the comfort. The closest districts to the resort of Saturn are: Rozelor and Gara (railway station). The central area of the city is very close to the beach in Mangalia.
